Isaac Regional Council and Heywire have combined forces to offer the youth of Isaac, aged 16-22, the opportunity to develop their skills in an online Heywire workshop, where an ABC producer will take you through the storytelling process, from helping you find your own unique story to then getting your thoughts and ideas on paper.

Heywire is an opportunity for young rural Australians to have their voices heard, and share what life is like in their part of the world with the rest of the nation. This annual storytelling competition, run by the ABC, showcases what it’s like to live in regional, rural and remote Australia. Winning Heywire is a chance for young people to have their story told on the ABC and see the impact their story can have. Entries are open now and close on September 16th.

The Heywire Storytelling workshop also includes videos of true stories from past Heywire winners, and plenty of opportunity for discussion and to ask questions.

Places are limited to allow interaction between the host and participants. Once registrations are complete, participants will receive a Microsoft Teams invite to log in to the workshop on Monday 7th September @ 4.00pm.

Participants will need to:

  • Be aged 16-22 years
  • Have internet capabilities - microphone and camera are preferable for full interaction between the participants and host
  • Have a pen and paper available.
