Connecting with each other has never been more important. This year Seniors Month will run from from 1- 31 October, with the theme Social Connections.

During October people of all ages, cultures, and abilities will connect through inclusive events and activities, celebrating the important and essential roles older people play in our communities.

Seniors Month aims to:

  • improve community attitudes towards older people and ageing.
  • facilitate community participation and activity by older people, including those from Indigenous and culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
  • enhance community connections and inter-generational relationships.

In Isaac, a packed roster of events and activities will ensure plenty of opportunities for connection and celebration. There are luncheons, yoga, tech and more on offer. See the full list below! Some events require RSVPs. Events in Clermont and Moranbah have been supported by additional funds provided by the Council on the Aged (COTA).

COTA Queensland initiated the first Queensland Seniors Week in 1960. Back then it was called Old People’s Week and COTA was known as the Old People’s Welfare Council. Language has changed over the years, but the purpose of the celebration hasn’t. Over the years Seniors Week has grown significantly into a major annual celebration.

Please RSVP for the Seniors Month activities by clicking the survey below.
