Consultation has concluded

The Moranbah Community Centre (MCC) has been the centrepiece of pure people power in our community since it was built in 1974. The centre is a multi-purpose venue that hosts balls, weddings, shows, movies, meetings, conferences, trade fairs, dances and historically functioned as the original and only place of worship.

As you may be aware, Isaac Regional Council has undertaken preliminary scoping and community engagement activities to inform decision making around the future of the MCC.

The proposed revitalisation of the MCC seeks to address the growing gaps in meeting current and future corporate and community needs in a facility which is approaching 50 years of age.

This project is seeking to create an attractive, functional and sustainable regional conference and community facility where the innovation, creativity, cultural enrichment and strategic engagement opportunities co-exist and prosper in front of an increasing audience through in-person events and digital connectivity investment.

The MCC Renewal Project design concepts seek to address the following critical elements:

  • Improved functionality and flow between meeting, event and communal spaces
  • All-abilities inclusion and access to all areas of the facility
  • Renewal of building infrastructure and services which have reached their end-of-life
  • Increased catering capacity through state-of-the-art commercial kitchen facilities
  • Increased diversity in meeting room size and functionality
  • Design considerations linking new outdoor gathering spaces with the interior functions of the facility

In addition to the key elements above, a state-of-the-art digital infrastructure upgrade is planned and committed through the support of an existing funding partner. This will enable enterprise grade Wi-Fi and industry leading video conferencing and presentation services.

Isaac Regional Council invites you to take part in the survey below to enable us to gain more insight and feedback to the future use of this important multi-purpose community asset. This survey will expire on Sunday 22 August 2021.
