The Queensland Regional Art Awards is an annual visual arts prize and exhibition for established and emerging artists living in remote and regional Queensland. The program aims to provide a platform for further professional development. Importantly, it gives regional audiences an opportunity to see and experience artworks created by their peers. This aligns with Council’s objective in its Arts And Cultural Action Plan 2018-2022 to deliver exhibitions for the Coalface Art Gallery that provide community access to touring exhibitions. Council is committed to facilitating a diverse range of cultural events/programs/activities that build vibrancy, feed creativity, energise our communities and power our people.

Queensland is a state full of diverse ecosystems, wildlife, places, people and personalities. In 2019, artists were encouraged to explore the diverse elements and qualities that make up their own communities and locations within Queensland.

The exhibition features a variety of art works including sculpture, paintings, textiles and media/video works. The exhibition will also include artworks and stop motion videos created by some students of Clarke Creek State School and Moranbah State School during workshops earlier this month conducted by Ipswich based artist Rebecca Lewis. Rebecca is also one of the featured artists in the “Queensland Regional Art Awards: State of Diversity” exhibition.

Flying Arts Alliance Inc is a not-for-profit organisation inspiring the appreciation, practice and professional development of visual arts as a lifetime interest or career.
