Isaac’s premier arts space, the Coalface Art Gallery, showcases the “We Rise” exhibition by Mackay artist Shelley Engwirda from Friday 1 September to Friday 13 October 2023 .
Featuring five large scale patchwork quilts and eight glass artworks, “We Rise” takes visitors on a journey through the success and failures of the women’s movement from the 1970’s to the present. Engwirda explores the way female artists have been regarded historically through her multidisciplinary arts practice.
The exhibition will be open to the public during business hours Monday to Friday from Friday 1 September to Friday 13 October 2023. A special opening of the exhibition will happen on Sunday, 24 September 2023 from 8.30am to 11.30am.
