Citizen of the Year (age 27+)

Aged 27 years or over as at 26 January 2024

2024 Regional Awards

Citizen of the Year (age 27+)

Aged 27 years or over as at 26 January 2024. Recognises outstanding members of the community for their personal endeavours, achievements and community input.

Young Citizen of the Year (aged 16-26)

Aged 16–26 years as at 26 January 2024. Recognises young citizens for their personal endeavours, achievements and community input.

Community Event of the Year

To be presented to the individual or group who has staged the most outstanding community event during the year. The event must have made a significant contribution to the Isaac Region’s community and could be staged physically or online.

Corporate Community Contribution of the Year

Recognises both large corporations operating in Isaac Region and/or small to medium enterprises (SMEs) for significant events and/or initiatives which better the community.

2024 Local Awards

Achievement Medallion

Recognises individuals or groups who demonstrate genuine passion, selflessness and undertake significant endeavours to better their community.

Arts and Culture Medallion

Recognises individuals or groups involved in the region’s rich cultural and arts community.

Sports Medallion

Recognises the committed sportsperson, coach, administrator, official, or organisation and club whose actions inspire and encourage others and enrich the community through sport.

Community Business Medallion

Recognises independent small to medium enterprises (SMEs) principally based in Isaac region which undertake significant endeavours to better their local community.

Nominations close 19 November 2023.

GENERAL CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

  1. Council accepts all award nominations in good faith and in the genuine spirit of the Australia Day Awards, which is to recognise the achievements of community members and organisations.
  2. All nominees will be contacted regarding the nomination and will be given the chance to decline the nomination.
  3. Individual nominees must be an Australian Citizen and resident of the Isaac Regional Council Local Government Area at the time of nomination.
  4. If a nominee resides outside of the Isaac Regional Council Local Government Area but works or participates in sport, arts and culture or volunteering within the Isaac Region, the nominee may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
  5. All nominations must be received on the official nomination form by 11.59pm, 19 November 2023.
  6. All nominations must have one nominator and one referee and include a summary about the nominee. Additional information can also be supplied.
  7. Contact details of nominators may be used by Isaac Regional Council for media and promotional material, including but not limited to forwarding on to media outlets.
  8. Citizen of the Year nominees must be over 26 years of age as at 26 January 2024.
  9. Young Citizen of the Year nominees must be aged 16-25 years as at 26 January 2024.
  10. Nominees can be nominated for both a regional-level award and one local award category on the same nomination form (where applicable).
  11. Nominations will not be considered where an individual or group received an award in the same nomination category the previous year. Nominees are, however, eligible to be considered for higher-level awards and/or achievements in other areas of endeavour.
  12. Nominees aged under 18 as at 26 January of the following year will require consent of a parent or guardian to be considered.
  13. Where Council believes there is a question over the validity of the nomination, it may elect to contact the nominator, referee or nominee directly for clarification.
  14. Council maintains the right to exclude any nomination it considers would diminish the integrity of Council and/or the awards without recourse, which includes a criminal history involving conviction for any indictable offence.
  15. Council may consider nominations under an alternate award category should it deem there is merit.
  16. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
  17. Council reserves the right to vary the terms and conditions of the awards program at any time at its absolute discretion.

    Candidates can be nominated in one regional and one local award category. Please tick as applicable.
