Catherine Clark Dowden Workshop Registration
The Charcoal on Wood panel workshop is teaching participants the old master's way of drawing, which is called "The Sight-Size method", using a variety of charcoals.
Together we will go through the method, and I will explain the different charcoals and the best way to use them to create a true likeness of our reference photo.
Artist: Catherine Clark Dowden
Date: Saturday 17 August (part of the Clermont Historical Centre Open Day)
Location: Clermont Historical Centre
Workshop times: 9:30am-11:30am and 1pm-3pm (please book for one session only)
Drawing with charcoal on the hard surface allows you to create a real depth in tone, beautiful darks, and shadow, with strong highlights to bring the animal to life on the surface. This one-day workshop is a fun way of learning about the different types of charcoal mediums that I use, and what you can achieve with them to create a life-like drawing. Using the sight size method, which teaches free-hand drawing and hones your observation skills, to create your own masterpiece. It is a little messy, but a lot of fun!
Suitable for beginners, 13 years and up, or for artists happy to try something new. The workshops are informative, inspiring, and held in a safe and friendly environment.
The possibilities are endless with art!
Please note this event is a capped event, if there are any concerns with your booking we will touch base.
