Glenden swimming pool has historically listed hours reflecting the various usage required to meet the needs of the community.
As community has undergone significant change over several years, a review of operating hours is considered a functional approach to implementing a change to enhance community access to the facility.
Following investigation and review of attendance data from past seasons, Council is proposing a review of opening hours to better reflect the current and future direction of the facility.
Season 23/24 – Sept to May, weekly average 65 entries
Season 24/25 – Sept to May, weekly average 57 entries
Season 25/26 – based on data to date, weekly average 26 entries
Two-fold, this review will permit Council to consider the fiscal component of pool operations and ensure that the operating model, shaped through consultation, delivers greater social and economic balance.
Additional consideration to;
• Are early openings required? Would hours be better suited to extended afternoon opening times e.g. 1pm to 8pm
• Would closure days better aligned to the end of the week when people are more inclined to leave town for appointments, shopping, service access, rostered days off?
• What additional services at the pool may attract further/increased usage of the facility?
