If your small business has suffered direct damage caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, grants are available from Isaac Regional Council to assist your small – medium business pay for outgoings, to seek professional advice or to support your diversification efforts for business continuity.

Please note that businesses can make staged applications as their needs arise. All applications will be received and evaluated on merit. Applicants are requested to be mindful that there is finite amount of funds available for all of our region. As a guide, grants will be funded for up to $10,000 and special circumstances will be considered.
DEFINITIONS
Financial Hardship Assistance to maintain unavoidable and non-deferrable expenses to keep business enabled
Key outgoings, unavoidable and non-deferrable expenses to keep your business afloat. This can be either if the business is still active or temporarily closed/restricted. E.g. Electricity, rent, licences, permits, cleaning, insurance, etc.
Assistance for Professional Advice
Legal, Financial Advisor, etc.
Assistance to Cover Diversification Strategy
New equipment, more staff, different expenses, etc.
Assistance for Re-Establishment
If your business has been inactive, ‘start up’ costs to activate and re-establish operations.
ELIGIBLE ITEMS
Financial assistance for ongoing or recurrent operational costs to help sustain the viability of the subject organisation, including:
Reasonable essential operating expenses supported by evidence
Rent and/or leasing fees in non-Council facilities where relief or deferral is not available
Fuel and other essential supplies (for the purposes of organisational activity only)
Permits and licences to maintain the business.
Servicing of loan interest payments for a period of up to six months where relief or deferral is not provided by a financial institution.
Financial assistance to obtain professional advice such as legal or financial services
Temporary equipment hire or purchase of new tools of the trade for diversifying the business.
INELIGIBLE ITEMS
(Unless demonstrated evidence that these are key attributes for the business to function)
Salaries/wages, Directors’ fees or other forms of personal compensation and reimbursement
Relief from Council-levied fees and charges which are dealt with under separate provisions
Instances where insurance coverage will provide restitution
Capital improvements to assets or facilities
Asset replacement or renewal, inclusive of failure, damage or loss of essential equipment
Development of privately-owned facilities
Low-value portable technology
Projects / events / activities run solely for commercial profit
Travel (excluding fuel for the purposes of organisational activity only)
HOW CAN THE ASSISTANCE HELP YOU?
The assistance enables you to pay for costs associated with business continuity and reinstatement activities.
Examples of eligible activities:
hiring or leasing equipment or materials essential to for immediately resuming business activities
replacing lost or damaged stock essential for immediately resuming trading
leasing temporary premises to resume operations
To be eligible for assistance you must own and have operated a small-medium business (as defined by the ATO) and be located and operating this business within the Isaac region’s local government area.
