Communi-tea Upcycling Crockery Workshops
Consultation has concluded
Do you have some teacups, plates or other household items that you’d like to re-purpose into beautiful garden sculptures, indoor ornaments or a perfect gift?
Residents are invited to attend two “Communi-tea” workshops happening in Dysart and Nebo on the weekend of Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 November 2020. These workshops are being facilitated to help ease the burden of COVID-related stress and to encourage people to come together to share their lived experiences of this crazy year.
Join Mackay-based artists, Wanda Bennett and Lalune Croker, as they show you how to transform everyday crockery items into unique creations using porcelain paint, pens, collage materials and mosaic techniques.
Attendance is free of charge. Residents are encouraged to bring along some items of crockery (cups, saucers, plates, teapots) chipped or in good condition to upcycle. You might like to check out your local op shop for supplies.
Participants must bring their own lunch. Water, tea and coffee will be provided.
The details of the two workshops are as follows:
Date | Time | Venue |
Saturday, November 21 | 10.00am-3.00pm | Dysart Council Building, Shannon Crescent |
Sunday, November 22 | 10.00am-3.00pm | Nebo Memorial Hall, Reynolds Street |
Places are limited. To secure your place at a workshop, register via the below registration form or phone 1300 ISAACS.
The “Communi-tea” upcycling crockery workshop program is an Isaac Regional Council initiative (funded via the Regional Arts Development Fund) to support recovery and resilience amongst residents in this COVID world that we are all living in. Some members of Moranbah District and Support Service (MDSS) may also attend the workshops so that they are on hand to offer some informal counselling if the need arises.
Council is committed to maintaining safe event practices that comply with the Queensland Government framework for COVID Safe events. The Communi-tea upcycling crockery workshops will operate under a COVID Safe Event Checklist, with a Statement of Compliance on display. We ask that all gallery attendees comply with social distancing measures and use the hand sanitiser that will be available as required.
Please refrain from attending Council facilities if you are unwell, have been in contact with a confirmed or suspected case of COVID-19, have returned from NSW or Victoria in the last 14 days or have been advised to self-isolate.
